The Beta SDM Corse MX Team has decided to take part in the first round of the Italian Championship which took place in Maggiora in anticipation of the world stage which will take place on 3-4 July but also to continue the development work.
Jimmy Clochet is back in the race after a bad crash in Mantua which slowed down the French rider’s work with his bike.
In this first round of the Italian Championship, the start of the world championship moved to mid-June, the MX1 saw a very high number of entries forcing the organizers to divide the riders into three groups.
Van Horebeek and Clochet immediately found themselves at ease on the Maggiora track, in perfect conditions, and both set the third fastest time in their respective group.
On Sunday the track presented itself with a heavy surface due to the rain that fell during the night, further increasing the difficulty for the drivers.
In race 1, Jeremy got off to a good start, who passed in second position on the first lap, the Belgian driver, maintaining a good race pace without exaggerating to avoid making mistakes, finished in second position. With a good start Clochet immediately entered the group of the first in fifth place, a pity for a crash that relegated him to the eighth place finish.
At the start of race 2 Van Horebeek was unable to have a good exit from the gate losing several positions. Jeremy, after taking a good pace, recovered several positions up to third place, in the last laps he tried to attack Lupino for second place but the track had become a single trajectory and he did not want to overtake so as not to compromise the result.
Bad start for Clochet in race 2 and added to a crash saw him go down in the lower parts of the standings, Jimmy with a good comeback ended in thirteenth place with an excellent race pace.
Jeremy Van Horebeek closes this first race of the Italian Championship in second place overall.
