Bittersweet flavor for the Orelac Racing Verdnatura riders at the round of Motul de Portugal in the FIM Supersport World Championship. The good results of the Saturday day could not count on continuity on Sunday. On the first day, Rafaelle de Rosa once again proved that he is among the best in the category and qualified fourth after a tough fight that could lead him to victory. For his part, the young Leo Taccini was classified as the winner in the European Championship competition.
Jules Cluzel (GMT94 Yamaha) claimed his first win of the season on Saturday. In the middle of the race, the battle for victory and the remaining places on the podium was drawn a tug of war between Aegerter, Cluzel, González, Raffaele de Rosa De Rosa and Tuuli, without any of them being able to detach themselves from the rest. They were constantly exchanging positions. The fight to five reached the finish line. Cluzel faced the last lap in the lead after beating the Spaniard at the end of the straight and stayed ahead until he saw the checkered flag in first position, for the first time since San Juan 2019, almost two years later. Cluzel's pace in the later stages was so high that he broke the race fastest lap record with 1'44.783s. González finished second ahead of Aegerter in third place. De Rosa crossed in fourth place ahead of Tuuli and Odendaal completed the top six after closing in on the leading group in the second half of the race.
On Sunday, Taccini finished out of the race, while De Rosa fell on the penultimate lap while fighting for victory.
